History of Sunrooms
The outdoors have long since been a getaway for families, friends and neighbors to have chats, cookouts, and get-togethers. Whether you're relaxing on the front porch, rocking on a porch swing, or lounging after a long and stressful day in a hammock on the back porch--it's always a good and rejuvenating feeling to get out of the house and into fresh air. Unfortunately, sometimes wind, bugs, and precipitation can limit the amount of time you can spend comfortably outdoors. Naturally, many years ago, homeowners began to generate ideas in regards to how they could spend time outdoors but not really be outdoors.
Sunrooms first began as porches with screens and removable windows for the colder months. They weren't seal proof and sometimes dirt, pollen, and dust would enter the home. These screened porches in Baltimore, MD and in surrounding areas were often used at hospitals and homes where the sick were cared for. It was believed that fresh air and sunlight would help to cure a body of its sicknesses. Patients would often get to sit in the sunrooms and take in the view of the outdoors. It was a nice change from laying in their hospital bed all day. After some time, it was discovered that using storm windows would help to protect the interior of a home from any outside debris and dust.
In the 1960s, patio enclosures were beginning to be installed. Families loved spending time outdoors in their enclosed area which was free from any pesky bugs or rain. Families were also seeking to enhance their patio enclosures and make them as useful as possible.
Ever since then, sunrooms in Baltimore, MD and patio enclosures have evolved into what they are today. For more information about four season vinyl sunrooms in Baltimore, MD or patio rooms, please feel free to contact us.
